Five Star Review

Our family were here in July for 4 nights and it would have been longer if we could have managed it but they were fully booked. We were in a touring pitch and have nothing but praise for the site and staff. Beautiful private pitches, stunning grounds and gardens and so tranquil down by the waters edge. Clean toilets and a lovely relaxing bar / lounge with lovely leather sofas. We will definitely be back next year and for a longer stay.

One Star Review

I have to agree with Feb 20th's review. We found the site disappointing. It was a shame. It is more common than my wife and I had thought it would be and just general couldn't-care-if-you-were-there attitude with all the staff. Just lacked etiquette. Hated the £20 charge and check at the end of the visit - how insulting.

Five Star Review

What a beautiful place, views were amazing and the gardens were immaculate- even in winter. Park is in a good location, the town of Bowness is in walking distance. Like the review below, we too had to have an inspection of the caravan, we did not find this an issue at all, and I suppose they have to keep a certain standard in the caravans. We all had a great time. Thumbs up from Parry family. Would definitely visit again!

Two Star Review

Stunning on-site scenary. However, site failed in several areas. One of cleanliness and the other was the toilet was blocked in one of the caravans we rented and had to wait all day for it be fixed. The other holiday makers were common and on departure, like all the holiday makers, we had to have an insulting 'check' inside the caravan, to ensure we'd not damaged anything before we could leave!! School or what? We only stayed once and never again.

Had an excellent time and would recommend this venue to anyone. The car did not move for a week as the location is A1 and there is so much to do around. Excellent for children as well with entertainment and onsite facilities.

We had a fantastic honeymoon at Fallbarrow Park. The bar and restaurant serve top class food with chirpy, jolly staff. The shop has a great stock of essentials and treats. Bowness Town is so close we would walk there every morning for breakfast at MontClares (also highly recommended). The Park is lovely and quiet, and a walk to the water edge is lovely.

Fallbarrow Park is set among woodland on the eastern shore of Lake Windermere. It’s also just a few minutes’ walk into Bowness. The site is
well set out with large, hardstanding pitches that are separated by hedgerows and equipped with electric hook-up, water and TV aerial points. Good washroom, washing-up and laundry facilities mean you have time to spend on the water. The private jetty makes getting out there plain sailing. There is also a multi-activity play
area for the children.

Practical Caravan Top 100 Parks 2007

Falbarrow Park, which sits on the shore of Lake Windermere, has justifiably
been described by the English Tourism Council as “a park situated in an area of outstanding scenic beauty”.
This is without doubt one of Britain’s loveliest lakeside caravan parks, covering 32 acres amid wooded parkland along the eastern shore of the lake.
It extends a warm welcome to tourers and boasts an unrivalled setting in a natural and scenic environment covering 32 acres of wooded parkland.
To find Falbarrow, drive along the M6 and exit via junction 36. The touring pitches are easily reached from the site’s main road and they are separated by six-foot high hedges. These ensure privacy as well as providing more than adequate space.
The touring pitches are on hardstanding with spacious grass surrounds and all-weather awning bases. Every pitch also provides for direct connection to the fresh water supply, waste-water disposal, electricity and TV. These ultra-modern, ‘next generation’ pitches offer guests with the right equipment all the facilities of home. These pitches are grouped together, and are close to amenities and the slipways.
The park has two slipways of
its own and three jetties to make launching your boat convenient. Children’s facilities include the play area. Outdoor fun and games are all part of the Fallbarrow Park experience. Nearby leisure facilities include tennis courts, golf courses, windsurfing schools and pony trekking stables.
Just a five-minute stroll will take you to the centre of Bowness, with its many attractions and restaurants. And don’t forget the famous Lake Windermere steamers. The lakeside is particularly popular with British and foreign visitors, and the town can sometimes become grid-locked with pedestrians, let alone traffic, especially at Bank Holiday weekends. Therefore, visitors
are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.

Fallbarrow Park could be described as the Ritz of caravan sites. As soon as you arrive, it’s clear how it’s gained this reputation, since the huge reception area feels more like that of a smart hotel than that of a touring park. Not only is the site very special, but so is its location right on the shores of Windermere, just five minutes walk from the centre of Bowness.
The facilities are all outstanding. There are two pristine washblocks and an excellent pub and restaurant with a games room and beer garden – ideal for relaxing while keeping an eye on your kids in the nearby children’s play area. There’s also a good selection of take-away food available from reception. All the staff on site are friendly, and you can sleep well in the knowledge that there is security on site 24 hours a day.
You’ll find lots of popular attractions nearby, including The World of Beatrix Potter. The site’s waterfront location means you’re ideally placed for taking
a cruise around Windermere.

This park could be called the Ritz of Lake District caravan sites. Even the huge reception area feels more like that of a five-star hotel than a family retreat. This is the campsite for all those who appreciate the outdoor life but simultaneously hanker after first-class facilities.
Fallbarrow is on the shores of Lake Windermere, just five minutes walk from Bowness village centre. Cruises around the lake are available within easy walking distance, and among the popular attractions is The World of Beatrix Potter. If you want to get close to nature then there are numerous walks and trails nearby. And the site's lakeside location means that you can enjoy watching wildfowl and boats meander up and down the lake. Should the weather turn inclement, there's a large games room to keep everyone amused.
The staff are friendly and approachable and you can sleep securely in your bed at night knowing that there is security on site 24 hours a day. Unfortunately, there are only 39 touring pitches which means that early booking for peak season is required. However, the site's set over a huge area, and every single slot is a ‘superpitch'. For an all-inclusive fee you get grass and hardstanding, drinking water, waste water disposal, electricity and a TV point.
The amenities are also outstanding, including two pristine toilet facilities. There's a great pub with a games room and beer garden, which is ideal for relaxing in. Take-away food is also available.
This park is a great choice for an active family holiday in a beautiful area.

Set on the shore of Lake Windermere, Fallbarrow Park is surely the envy of sites across the land; you couldn’t want for a more scenic location. A 600-metre stretch on the shore offers boat-launching facilities for craft up to 18ft long. You can also enjoy a stroll around Fallbarrow’s beautifully kept lawns and gardens.

There are 38 hardstanding pitches and all come with 16A electricity hook-up and each pitch is hedged or fenced for privacy. Fallbarrow Park is maintained to a very high standard, but that is no surprise when you consider that the managers also run last year’s number one park, Limefitt. There are two heated toilet blocks that are kept very clean, a baby washroom and a hairdressing area. In terms of on-site leisure, the Boathouse pub provides an ideal place to unwind and enjoy a few drinks, a light snack or even a full meal. There is also a games room and a lounge, which is a great spot to sit back and enjoy the views.

If you want to venture off-site you will find plenty to do; Bowness Bay is only a short walk away, and pony trekking, tennis and golf are all available nearby. The reception area at thrs are just a stone’s throw away. As well as the sights and sounds of Blackpool Pier, you will also find opportunities fishing, golf and horseriding nearby.

If you’ve got children that like to be kept busy, but equally you are after a site where you can relax and takes things at a nice easy pace, then Marton Mere Holiday Village is the place for you.
