Stopped here Aug 2008 for 1 night, we wanted to take our 2 young kids to Gulivers kingdon so asked if we could pitch early so not to be too late for the theme park and there was no problem with this, staff freindly and helpfull site facilities very clean and very good, kids enjoyed the park as there were plenty of other kids to play with.

Recomend this site and check out the night sky views..will be back again in couple of weeks

just returned from a weekend here and had a brilliant time.
pitch was very good size and we werent too far from park and toilet facilities which were very clean and well looked after. the staff were all friendly and the pub is worth a visit.
visited ashbourne and matlock and both good as well.
the weather was hot hot hot and we were sad to leave. will definately be back soon.

Set in the Heart of the Peak District, in 36 acres of Pasture and Woodland, This site has achieved the David Bellamy Gold Award..........Large sheltered grass and hard standing pitches, are well laid out and divided... Quality Facilities include a Shop a Play Area Cafe and Bar....... Also a well manned Reception Area....... Close to the Tissington Trail it is ideally situated for Walkers and Cyclists, and convenient for Chatsworth and Alton Towers.......... With fabulous surroundings it is also one of the few sites in the Peak District which stays open for most of the year......... The luxurious Centrally Heated Shower Block with underfloor heating, is cleaned regularly....... The toilets are well equipped with everything you require, and a key is required for access... There is also a large Play Area for children, and a lovely Wildlife Pond.......... This site is well worth a visit......

The toilets and showers are excellent and always immaculately clean. Also have underfloor heating which is a nice touch! Didn't have a problem with keys like one of your reviewers said - access to the toilets was with a pin number. Maybe they've changed the system since then?

The site itself is set in an old quarry and is really lovely. It has been laid out very imaginatively with lots of shrubs and trees planted between the pitches giving plenty of privacy. Great for nature lovers too. There is a small pond, loads of birds soaring over the cliffs and lots of wildflowers in the spring. Can see why it gets a David Bellamy gold award most years.

There is a small childrens' play area in the centre but to be honest we spend most of our time riding bikes on the Tissington Trail which is right next to the site. Also had really good days out at Chatsworth and Alton towers which are not too far away.

Usually spend at least one night in the bar which I can highly recommend. Excellent pub grub using local products and large portions - gammon particularly good! On our last visit there was also a live folk band playing which kept my young son enthralled!

Staff at reception are always really friendly. There is also a small shop that although uninspiring does stock the basics however it's a good excuse to pop down to Ashbourne to stock up!!

Would highly recommend it to anyone. Great location for getting away from it all, enjoying nature, nice friendly staff and a good bar. What more could you ask for? (- apart from a good dose of sunshine!! )

This site is set in a disused quarry.The staff were very friendly and helpful.The pitches are of a pleasing size but some are also small.The facilities are all good and up to standard it is also dog friendly with a very good dog walk and lots of bins to keep the site clean.The only problems we have were that we have two teenage sons and there is not much for them to do and we also found to many rocks on the pitch and roadside as we damaged our brand new caravan on the rear by hitting it.It is good driving distance of ashbourne town centre and there very good walks around the site .

We visited this site over a bank holiday weekend.

The facilities they have are fair to average, one thing that did trouble me was the key system for the toilet and showers. We were issued with one key so if my wife went to the shower and I wanted to visit the loo, it was hold on best you can. I really cant understand the thinking behind it, I have never come across it before. For a second key we had to leave a £5 deposit??

The location is great, plenty to see and do around.

I probably wouldnt go back unless I heard it had improved (and they ditched the key idea)

Thanks to Mark for feedback. The key system is there:-
a) To prevent children "playing" in the toilets, which has included setting fire to piles of toilet paper, sticking wet loo roll on the ceiling etc.
b) To prevent users of the 4 x 4 rally field using our facilities and covering them in mud and preventing our clients from having access to the facilities they have paid for.
Bank holidays test every site facility to the limit and you never have enough showers - even though we exceed government requirements. Most clients rate the toilet block very highly - how many sites have underfloor heating all year, free showers etc

Highly impressed went Mothers Day weekend, extremely good value for the price and immaculate facilities, very well laid out and clean, quiet setting and good sized pitches, staff extremely helpful and friendly would highly recommend, will definately be visiting again.

This site is great for people who want to get out into the Peak District National Park. Close to the park you will find horse riding, fishing, walking and many cycle trails including the Tissington Trail that links to the High Peak Trail, Trails Triangle and Limestone Way. For days on site there is a play area and recreation field. The pitches are in a quiet setting. They are all hardstanding and most have electric hook-up and easy access to the central washroom facilities. Stable buildings now house a shop, licensed café, games room and lounge bar, as well as the reception area.

This park is located in a long-defunct stone quarry, skillfully laid out with pitches radiating from the central amenities building. The attractive pitching areas are separated by low hedges and young trees. The sanitary building is in pristine condition and easy to access. Leisure activities and attractions abound nearby.

This park is located in a long-defunct stone quarry, nestling on level ground beneath towering quarry walls.
The site has been skillfully laid out, with pitches radiating from a central amenities building and a children’s play area in a clover leaf pattern.
On arriving at the park, you encounter the impressive stone building that accommodates reception, the well-stocked shop, bar and catering facilities. The bistro-style restaurant seats 28 with seating for a further 32 persons in the bar area.
A 120 touring pitches are hardstanding, and 93 have electric hook-up. The pitching areas are attractive and separated by low hedges and young trees. However, the approach roads to the pitches are not particularly wide and are lined on both sides by large rocks.
The sanitary building is in pristine condition and easy to access. Adjacent to the amenities is a small, neat playing field. On one side of the field there is a children’s play area with five pieces of equipment, which are well maintained.
Leisuretime activities abound within easy reach of the park, including horseriding, fishing, walking and many cycle trails. Chatsworth House and Hadden Hall, are both within 30 minutes’ drive. There is good shopping six miles away in Ashbourne, which is also renowned for its Shrovetide anything-goes, all-muck-in games of football with goals that are three miles apart. The spa town of Buxton, on the east edge of the Pennines, is 14 miles away and well worth the drive.
